more petroglyphs
I came across this article about the discovery of 500 additional petroglyphs in the Helan Shan in Ningxia. The article is a little short on detail, and, well, a little short, but interesting.
Ningxia is one of the regions of China I haven't yet got around to visiting, but I would like to. The history seems fascinating - home of the ancient Xixia Dynasty founded by the Tangut people, which lasted until Genghis Khan came along. And from what I understand, the only reason the area has any human life is that weird northward loop the Yellow River takes after it leaves Lanzhou.
One day I'll get out there to have a look for myself.
